Saturday March 21st Leeds 1 - 4 Innishvilla - what a game- well done to Brendan Lynch for a great penalty; Stephen for two great goals and good old David McCarthy for one of his usual. Great stuff lads! Sunday February 8th Under 16 Cup Avondale 6 - 0 Innishvilla, A sloping wet pitch didn't do us any good. After conceding an early goal Villa were playing well but a couple of mistakes at the back gave the home side a 3-0 advantage and the game was over. December 27th Glounthaune United 5 - 1 Innishvilla. Yep Aidan was back in goal Sunday November 30th game away to Rockmount postponed due to bad frost on the roads. League seem to have awarded the points to Rockmount. Being appealed. Saturday November 1st Castleview 7 - 1 Innishvilla 10:30 - some more goalkeeper dropsies helped Castleview to an easy victory. Gary Farrell scored our only goal Sunday October 19th home to Youghal ko 10:30 - well everything that could go wrong did. Two goalie howlers gave us too hard a hill to climb. Gary Farrell scored a great goal and we got an equaliser but the ball went through a hole in the net. The referee saw it but ex-schoolmaster Dave Dorgan showed his petulance by awarding a kick out to Youghal. Guess who's refereeing two games for us next Monday.... Deadly Delaney Duo Deny's De Ringers - so Dere! Saturday September 20 Ringmahon 1 - 2 Villa A cracker of a game saw Villa go one down and come back to give new manager Denis Mulvihill his first win as manager. After the heartache of the loss to Gloomthaun we had to strike back but things didn't look good when we went one down. Villa didn't give up and a beautiful strike from Eoghan Delaney into the top left away from the goalies reach saw us level the scores. With the confidence building Villa started to boss the game. Shane McCarthy fed a load of balls to Mark Murphy on the left wing while Oisin O'Callaghan and Don Lynch ran midfield. Then, as the crowd gasped in silence, Martin O'Callaghan spotted a foul in the box and screamed for a penalty; the ref duly pointed to the spot and Martin was content to be credited with an assist. Cruelly, Eoghan blasted the ball over the goal, over the boundary fence and almost hit a tanker coming into Cork harbour - never mind - there was to be a happy ending. From a Villa corner a Delaney flick wrong footed the goalie and Villa were in front and once there were never in danger of being caught. Well done lads! Team: Aidan Walsh, Brendan Lynch, Eoin Harte, Darragh Crowley, Shane McCarthy, Don Lynch, Oisin O'Callaghan, Joseph Lynch, Stephen Murphy, David McCarthy, Eoghan Delaney, Mark O'Brien
Sunday September 7th Innishvilla v Glounthaune United. A tough match agaoinst a team relegated lat season. We went a goal down to a deflection from a free kick but straight after the kick off for the second half Gary Farrell put us back in the game. It got better when David McCarthy volleyed in from a narrow angle after great work from Stephen Murphy. Unfortunately Glounthane bagged two quick goals to steal the game from us when we looked to have two points in the bag.
