U12 Division 1
Passage 1 : 2 Innishvilla

Innishvilla picked up three points in their first game in the Evening Echo sponsored Cork Schoolgirls Soccer League last weekend..The club’s new U12 girls team travelled to Passage for their first division clash which turned out to be a close encounter.
There was another first to this match as Emma Hughes, who won a Gaynor Cup with

Munster

, officiated in her first match. Both teams acquitted themselves well with Innishvilla having the better of the opening chances but it was the home side that took the lead. After winning the ball in midfield Passage worked the ball through the visitors’ defence and into the path of Sophie Collins who picked her spot and slotted the ball past Megan Collins in the Villa goal.
Villa bounced back quickly when their strike force linked up impressively to score their first goal in the Evening Echo Schoolgirl’s League. Jennifer Murphy dropped deep to pick up the ball on the right wing and played in Roisín O’Regan who rounded the last defender and fired a shot past the impressive Shauna Barrett in the Passage goal.
The Villa strike force looked dangerous throughout but they came up against two in-form defenders in Amy Hartnett and Laura Byrnes and the strikers had to be clinical as chances were rare.
The second half proved to be another tight affair, but the determined visitors found the back of the net to ensure they got off to the best possible start to the league campaign.
It was scored by captain Aoibheann Harte but in truth this was an excellent team performance from a team who will be hoping they can go from strength to strength after an excellent start.
