April 10th: There may not be a local U19 League next season for the current U17 teams (born 1993). If the Youths League are not running an U19 league next season, and if any of the CSL clubs want a league next season for their current U17 teams (ie born in 1993), the CSL will consider running one if it is the wish of the clubs.

Shane Long launches 2011 An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools

April 6 2011
Republic of Ireland and Reading striker, Shane Long, today launched the 2011 An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools. One week on from his Man of the Match performance against Uruguay, the Championship’s form player joined Megan Campbell, from the Irish U17 World Cup Squad, at Home Farm FC to kick off this year’s camps. The five day camps will see up to 23,000 children from all over Ireland participating at over 300 venues nationwide.

An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools offer children from the ages of 6 to 14 a fun and healthy summer activity.  The camps provide value for money and are focused on participation rather than competition.

Beginning on the 4th of July and running right through to the end of August, each week-long (Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 3.00pm) school is delivered by Garda vetted FAI-qualified coaches in a safe and professional environment and is overseen by our network of FAI Development Officers.

Walk of Dreams Safety Notices ·

  • Please ensure your Club is at CIT, Cork by 2pm on Sunday. ·

  • While we would like to see members attired in their club colours - please dress appropriately for changeable weather conditions. ·

  • For all groups we would recommend a minimum adult to child supervisory ratio of one adult for every ten children. ·

  • Please notify your members that if they become lost or separated from their group to contact a walk day steward and contact will be made with your club captain or adult supervisors on your clubs’Walk Day Registration Card. ·

  • The walk is just that - a walk, it’s not a race so in the interests of all taking part we would ask you to take your time, enjoy the day and to abide with the event stewards and with the safety notices and announcements.

  • For the safety of all participants the start area is completely closed to traffic and there is a rolling road closure over the course of the walk.

  • In addition the route will be fully manned by our event day stewards.

March 14: We are registered for the walk on the www.johngilesfoundation.com website. I need the number of walkers from each club for health and safety reasons. Please ensure you let me know. - Finbar

March 13th: Following our recent delegate meeting we are issuing the following two options to deal with the movement of players between teams. We will require EVERY club to cast a vote for EITHER OPTION 1 OR OPTION 2 by email to no later than March 25. The option selected by the majority of clubs will then go forward as a rule change (which has to be submitted by March 31) to the AGM. The Kennedy Cup will be played at the U14 grade from next season.

CSL Option 1 At U12, U13 and U14 grades, no player will be entitled to transfer to, or join, any other club in the season following the season in which he participated (i.e. named as a player or substitute on the matchcard) in a competitive game for a Cork Schoolboys League Inter League team or an Irish team. If there are no competitive Inter League games at the lowest competitive grade, this rule will apply to all players named on the official Cork Schoolboys League Development Panel which will be issued to all clubs by the end of each season. At all other grades (from U15 and upwards), no club can sign more than three players in the season following the season in which they participated (i.e. named as a player or substitute on the matchcard) in a competitive game for a Cork Schoolboys League Inter League team or an Irish team. Any club with more than three players in a panel from the previous season will be able to keep those players. Not withstanding this rule, a request for a change of club may be submitted to the League, however such a request will only be considered in the most exceptional circumstances.

Option 2 In all grades (U12 and upwards), no club can sign more than three players in the season following the season in which they participated (i.e. named as a player or substitute on the matchcard) in a competitive game for a Cork Schoolboys League Inter League team or an Irish team. If there are no competitive Inter League games at the lowest competitive grade, this rule will apply to all players named on the official Cork Schoolboys League Development Panel which will be issued to all clubs by the end of each season. Any club with more than three players in a panel from the previous season will be able to keep those players. Not withstanding this rule, a request for a change of club may be submitted to the League, however such a request will only be considered in the most exceptional circumstances."
